The Summoning
By Elton Wildermuth, 2000
peering into shadows
searching for a sigh
summoning a memory of by and by
stopping, standing, staring
into the abyss
scrambling for balance on the precipice
bewildered innocence
alive in present tense
no fear, no consequence,
no reticence, no shame
lost in reverence
and yearning for the flame
lust beyond all seeming
yearn to her embrace
soul intoxicated by the queen of space
ride the rising current
bursting at the seams
burning for completion as the silence screams
bewildered innocence (&c)
language of the angels
song beyond all sound
elemental ecstacy, pure and profound
rose of perfect beauty
heart of everything
manifest in glory at the summoning
bewildered innocence (&c)
